Pastor Dick Bishop

As Administrator of Music and Prayer, Dick gives pastoral leadership and administrative support to ET’s prayer ministry and to the music and worship ministries of the Classic Service.

After meeting at what was once Evangel College, and making Evangel Temple their church home, Dick and Carolyn completed their degrees, were married, and embarked on their first ministry assignment to Wisconsin Rapids, WI as youth and music pastors.  After a year and a half, they joined others in the community in founding Mid Wisconsin Youth for Christ, becoming its first directors.  It was there God blessed them with their three children: Heidi, Rich and Stewart.

After ten years in Wisconsin, the family moved back to Springfield where they once again joined Evangel Temple and helped to start Springfield Area Youth for Christ, serving as its directors.

Receiving a call to Kalispell, Montana in 1982 they joined the staff of an Assemblies of God Church, where they ministered for thirty years, serving as Music Pastors, Executive Pastors and Interim Pastors.  During that time Dick also completed his Master’s Degree in Biblical Literature from AGTS.

Returning to Springfield to spend time with Dick’s father before his passing, Dick and Carolyn got involved in the music and prayer ministries at Evangel Temple.  When given the opportunity to join the pastoral staff as servant-leaders in the areas of music and prayer, they readily accepted and are loving serving the people of ET.

Aside from church duties, Dick and Carolyn love spending time with their grandchildren who live in St Louis, helping to lead a nursing home ministry at Wilson’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation, and hiking and exploring.
